MORNE MORKEL

Part of South Africa’s lethal pace trio alongside Dale Steyn and Vernon Philander, Morne Morkel has earned a reputation as one of the most feared bowlers in world cricket.

Morkel made his Test debut against India in late 2006, when he was brought in as an injury replacement for Steyn. He quickly became a regular in the side, and made his one-day international debut six months later.

After the retirement of Makhaya Ntini, Morkel was promoted to taking the new ball, and when on song, he can be impossible to play thanks to his combination of blistering pace and bounce.

A host of injuries through his career has not stopped the 1.96cm quick taking more than 450 wickets in both Test and one-day cricket.

Morkel's lower order hitting has also proved invaluable to the Proteas at times.
